Ignitionby zaflaboutComment by Rebecca: Interesting, neat capture of the moment of ignition, but the harsh lighting is a mood killer here. |

Ignitionby zaflaboutComment by klstover: Would have prefered the hand and match box in focus, or no smoke. Both of these elements together are too visually confusing for me. But I do like how you captured the moment of ignition - the shot fits your title well, and I think it is a great theme to enter into this challenge. |

Ignitionby zaflaboutComment by Jaded_Housewife: good idea. the smoke around the fingers look weird though. like its not from that match but a previous one. its distracting. great lighting and sharpness though. |

Ignitionby zaflaboutComment by DrAchoo: I can't quite tell what the artifacting is... The timing is great on the shot though. 5 |

Destination: Down Townby zaflaboutComment by redmoon: i have already given this a ten, reason being that it's visually quite stirring and creatively unique in that you're showing a city infrastructure rather than a singular vehicle. the terms "lifeblood" and "a living, breathing, artery" comes to mind. my only slight reservation is the inclusion of the skyline at the back; i admit it's nice, but i think it would feel more claustrophobic and bustly if you cropped just below the skyscrapers (which also give a city an identity, which i think makes the generic term Down Town less effective). but really, it still deserves the ten. the b&w is stylishly gritty and urban, the vanishing point nature of the lines of the road and tracks are very visually pleasing, the damp and slightly reflective surfaces add another good dimension. and given the noir-ish nature of elevated trains, i don't find this remotely grim; it's a hopeful image, and one showing a city working. i love it; it's stimulating, evocative, and also deceptively simple. |
