Great macro shot, may be from the same shoot as the insect challenge, which was great, but its an incredible shot, love the colors and sharpness on your subject. Well done.

Most excellent unqiue viewpoint. The tree coming in from the right side vs the bottom, works very well here. The focus point and DOF is perfect. The composition , even with the slight DOF we see here still leads us around the image quite nicely.

Ok so not sure if it's looking UP the trunk - at first I thought down - which was quirky and now it's sideways - challenge for my brain first thing in the morning - GRIN!

VERY tight focal length, perhaps a little too tight makes the focus look like a band around the tree - which may have been your intention.

The bokeh is lovely.
