Still beat my eggs with the old wire whisk by IreneMComment by justamistere: To clarify, for small amounts i whisk is used, in probably every major restaurant today. But for a large amount, like cakes a mixer is used commercially. I wouldn't know about households/home use.
Yes, if you used a whisk long ago, and not much since you went electric, that was your old way. And in general, everything electric is equated with modern.

Still beat my eggs with the old wire whisk by IreneMComment by IreneM: Originally posted by fotomann_forever: Originally posted by Quasimojo: This is a fabulous shot but I really don't want to sound like a DNMC hater but this really does feel like a shoehorn. Maybe I don't spend enough time in the kitchen but doesn't everyone still use a wire whisk to beat eggs?! It just doesn't feel like 'old ways' enough to me. It's a great image and it's hard to mark you down for it, but I have to do a -1 out of respect to all the others that seem better interpreted imho Brilliant shot in every other respect. |
Irene, I think the image is awesome and congrats on the ribbon... but I too at first felt that it was a bit of a stretch. I couldn't, however, force myself to vote it down low, because it is such a wonderful image.
In retrospect, just because something is STILL done a certain way, does not make it not an old way. |
Hi Leroy. Thanks for commenting. I didn't mean this image to be a stretch in any way. I use my electric mixer most of the time and I hadn't used the whisk for the longest time (I've had it for over 20 years). Even my dear old Mother-in-law uses her electric mixer regularly ;-) However, I see where you're coming from and thanks for not voting me down even though you had your doubts. The whisk was an "old way" for me and certainly no shoehorn. |
