Spilling out by IreneMComment by Ivory: I love your shot Irene and I personally think it does meet the challenge. My take is the subject is the liquid and the description didn't say the entire shot needed to be seen through something transparent and obviously a portion of the liquid is seen through the transparent bottle. So I think you met the challenge perfectly for me not to mention its an amazing image not only beautiful but well executed. I am glad there is a vote and the majority of voters loved it. Maybe if the descripition said the transparent object needed to fill more than say 80% of your image I would agree that it didn't meet the challenge but that isn't what it said. Regardless I think you deserved your blue and congratulations. Keep shooting what you enjoy and let the rest of us have the pleasure of viewing the shots you do so well.
Sorry for rambling on, everyone is entitled to there opinion and thats mine and I think the blue speaks for itself. |

Spilling out by IreneMComment by justamistere: This is a typical "IreneM" watershot
It seems the splash didn't come from the bottle, is that correct?
Please give some setup details.
From May-Dec 2006 you got no ribbons, but in 2008 you hit the jackpot.
So I guess persistence pays off.
Great record, 16-1st + 11-2nd + 11-3rd = 38, (19-HMs)
Scalvert's record: 15-1st + 19-2nd + 12-3rd, = 46, (7-HMs)
IF you count HMs, you beat Scalvert, 57 to 53.
I'd say you Animate the Inanimate.

Jealousy? Actually if you read the challenge description, this does not meet the challenge:
Create a photo in which a transparent or semi-transparent object is between you and your subject.
So while I do think this is a beautiful photo, those low scores are justified and have nothing to do with jealousy.
Sorry, Irene, for ranting on your photo. Congrats on the blue, it's a wonderful photo. |
Agree with you 100% Karen. Great photo! But DNMC clearly as the "subject" to anyone objectives is the water splash and the bottle is not between the viewer and the subject.
But again, great photo and has been proven here time and again, meeting the challenge is not a requirement with most voters. Sad but true.
Irene, I always love your work! |

Yeah, congrats on your first ribbon– it's about time you won one. Now stop messing around with those petty 5th and 6th place finishes and pass me already so I have a target again! ;-P |
