Stay on the path...follow the line and never venture off of it for you never know what lies in the unchartered territory of the woods beyond. That double yellow line is very bold and very vibrant I also get imagery that this child travels a 'yellow brick road' of sorts. Black and white tones are stunningly dynamic. The power of the image is strong for plays upon several themes. One, is of course what some children threaten to do when angry "run away from home'. This is something parents fear - especially if a child acts on it. There is another way of looking at this image symbolically. I see it as that a child will take their own path as they grow leaving childhood behind to travel roads beyond. It is a bittersweet thing for a parent to watch, but for a great many there is pride and love in the person the child grows up to be. Another symbolic way of looking at this is to project ourselves in the image and think back to the first steps we took from childhood in the journey to adulthood. A childhood remembered and forgotten at the same time - and introspective piece.
