I have looked at this shot for quite a long time now, on and off, and have never been sure what to say about it. I am still not sure what to say about it though. The square box in the eyes to me are distracting and I am not sure if the image would have been stronger without the doves in it. I keep looking at them. He is one handome young chap though, must have got it from his Dad!!

This is another photo that really hits home for me. My dad also used to pack my lunches and everyday he put in a funny note, usually something like "Roses are red, violets are blue.....something funny that rhymed" I couldn't wait for lunchtime so that I could read my note from my dad. I hadn't thought about that in a long time, so thanks for bringing back a great memory. =)

I agree with the other comments, the lighting on this is great. The pose is lovely too, he's got a great smile. I think the nly major distarcting element is the BG (I'm guessing it's the livingroom couch?) the pattern in the fabric keeps pulling me away from looking at the subject.

the tone and B&W conversion are spot on, as are the framing and composition.
