Great use of the back lighting. The subject unfortunately is a bit unsharp. Seems your camera focused on the background. But then again, your title suggests that the treetops actually were your subject ;-)

The more I look at this, the more I like it. My shot this week is a similar concept (foreground object the main focus of the image). I like the very simple lines of the tree line horizon, the clear sky. I also like the graduation of tones in the foreground. I keep trying to imagine this shot without the branch to the right of the stem. I think I would either like this better without the branch, or crop lower so the branch doesn't start at the very bottom of the frame. Nice image and good luck in the challenge...8

Interesting, bold composition and colours. The way the lighting edges that plant in the foreground is lovely. Overall, it doesn't really grab me, however. It seems too stark and cold.
