12 Bar Blues with Harmonicaby pineappleComment by kiwiness: You know, I would probably myself have gone for a full window crop and left the sky out of the sides, I think the impact would have had more kick to it. This is such a good image, but somehow the sky at the sides doesn't do it the justice it should (8) |

12 Bar Blues with Harmonicaby pineappleComment by MistyMucky: IMHO, it would look much better if the sky bits were cropped. Here the sky attracts the eye away from the picture. The window cleaner's lift is enough to disrupt the pattern and make it interesting. Also it should not be in the middle of the vertical. |

Chromaticby pineappleComment by yanko: An interesting image. I like the clean/polished chrome on those bumpers and the reflections are really good.
Speaking of which, looking at the reflection on the hood it looks like there was some nice photogenic weather that day so I'm wondering if there was an opportunity to include more of that in the shot somehow. I'm thinking perhaps a crazy angle like lying down on the ground and shooting upward so that the chrome and the sky are in the shot. Probably wouldn't work if I actually saw what I am talking about in the viewfinder but it might be something explore at another time. Anyway, I bring that up because the angle you took for this was pretty conservative and with other people submitting similar things you want to really make yours stand out and having a bold angle might have been the trick. Not that I speak from experience since I haven't won anything so take with a grain of salt! :) |
