The Inner Sanctumby patio127Comment by Bear_Music: This is gorgeous. I disagree on the idea of more DOF for sharper petals; I think there's a radical sense of depth here that the planes of diminishing focus emphasize. The lower ISO would have been good though, for more smoothness. |

The Inner Sanctumby patio127Comment by pixelpig: Backlight on flower petals makes the colors glow so nicely--this looks like the beginning of a nice series. I definitely think you should try more of these. |

The Inner Sanctumby patio127Comment by mycelium: Good choice on the backlighting--adds a lot of interest to a commonly photographed subject. What did you focus on?--it looks like it was the water droplet. It's lent a soft focus to everything that detracts from the photo. I'd have liked to see the edges of the petals sharp. Also, if you were shooting at 1/8000, why the ISO 800? You could have dialed down to 1/1000, plenty fast enough to avoid motion blur, and gone to ISO 100 to minimize noise and maximize the range of tones. |
