When I first started browsing this site about 4 years ago, pictures like this one were winning contests too. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, but these type of pictures are the poster children of the fact that people will choose bright colors, busy, and somewhat out of focus pictures over real pictures that took massive amounts of skill to achieve. Think of it this way, say you stage a photo that takes a more than few hours to get perfect after editing and so forth. You submit and lose by a pretty good sized margin to someone who walked up to a window with water on it with bright colorful lights behind it, snapped a photo then took it home, made little adjustments on it and....won...why are we romanticized by bright colors and patterns? Are we really that dumb? "Ooooohhh look at the colors george, arn't they pretty!"
