Daddy, can I feed the birds?by gseidenComment by melismatica: This is very nice but it looks like the boy is covered with glowing leeches. What in the world is that on his coat? This would be such a lovely image if it weren't for that incredibly distracting detail. I love the blurred motion of the gulls, the pink sky, and the capture of the boy holding out his offering while his dad looks on. I like the path converging in this distance. There is a real sense of place to this image. The boy could be in sharper focus (and there is that matter of his glowing coat). I'm not sure how to vote on this since I like almost everything about the picture but the glowing stuff is really hard to ignore. |

Daddy, can I feed the birds?by gseidenComment by michael_p: would have prefered the people cropped out for 2 reasons...
1)Focal point is the blown highlight on the reflectors on childs jacket rahter than being the child, but my eye would be better drawn to the white building in the background.
2)The white building in teh background would sit on the rule of thirds nicely for a better composition if no.1 was adhered to.
Great shot none the less and would prefer to see the whites in the birds and the white building a little brighter. |

Daddy, can I feed the birds?by gseidenComment by Nelzie: It's not a bad composition. It could have benefited from a slightly faster shutterspeed (which would probably necesitate a stronger flash).
There is one "glaring" problem with the image. The child's jacket has reflectors on it that are very distracting to the eye. The reflectors do take away from the rest of the image. |
