First Impressions
Unusual effect and capture of life in color. The power/telephone line catches my eye.
Photograph Information, Technicals & Composition Review
The composition is quite sound and I don't mind the slight skew. The strange effect of the man, who almost appears to be shuffling along, is enhanced by the house in better focus in the rear. The power/telephone line at first detracts, but grows after a while, but not too much for me. The ivy/vine growing up it enhances that 'element growth' in the image.
A "drive-by shooting", well yes, it does look like that, but I think you've pp'd it to give a unique feel enough that it doesn't seem snapshottish. The feel from the pp is a little 'dark', but the contrasting 'bright blue sky' balances it out. Would like to have seen a little more context, or even a different vantage point giving more interest in the depth and rear.
Comments, Score & Placement Review
130/135 and a score of 4.02 probably doesn't surprise you. I know you submit images that appeal to you and that is the creative key.
You have to like the honesty in comments during anonymous voting.
Summary
It has some interest for me as the viewer, but once my mind absorbs it for what it is (suburban scene, old man shuffling down street), I'm ready to move on from it. That said, this is your artistic vision and outlet, but you obviously like the feedback on it - so now you have mine for this image. |

side walkin'by posthumousComment by vawendy: I love that you mix things up. My own photography is still pretty much plain-old, normal stuff. But TS and others are giving me more of an appreciation of out-of-the-box photography. I've had fun experimenting more and enjoy many more photos than I used to.
That being said, the wire is distracting :D |

Flyingby posthumousComment by Melethia: Congrats to Karen, and thanks for sharing her poem with the rest of us. The two photos make a wonderful pair.
Holy crap. I just looked at the score. That is beyond the usual "wrongness" that DPC can serve up. Seriously, that really irritates me. |

a tribute to bucketby posthumousComment by photokariangel: This is Kari Ann, greetings from the Critique Club:
composition: I personally love the composition. it seems more natural than if it were centered in the frame.
color: great black and white tones, especially love the dark water
contrast: maybe a little less in the lower left hand side of the frame would help set the bucket off more in the frame.
focus: great focus, clear.
depth of field: again, good depth of field, and all is in focus clearly
lighting: those leaves and feather are what really draw me in. I love how they pop out of the dark abyss of the water bucket. And the light dancing amongst the straw is really a treat.
other: An overall beautiful image in my eyes. The only downfall that i can possibly see is the composition. while I like it, most probably would have liked it more in the centre. to each their own. Keep up the interesting and inspiring work.
If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me anytime.
-Kari Ann
