red bullby posthumousComment by roz: fantastic catch don ... love those tangled necks (the grass is always greener lol.. !!..) and the rick red and yellow contrasting with your b&w processing .. also find the vertical lines in the background quite appealing as well .. !!! .. probably coz of the contrast with the animals and how it balances the pic ..
how often do we take a photograph and only find something special when we see it on the computer .??. i often wonder why we miss those little gems with our real eyes .. how fortunate we have the gift of photography to take us back for another look ..
i think i'm addicted to these side challenges coz whenever i'm in one its a constant thought in my mind to catch something to fit in with the subject .. personally i think that so much in our lives and photography is serendipitous ..:)

balloonesqueby posthumousComment by Melethia: And an Ed Clarke-ish exposure kinda thing going on, too. Probably too "busy" for most to be considered minimal - quite minimal by my terms. My fav part is the light on the side of the basket. |

balloonesqueby posthumousComment by turnofthesue: I hope they're on the way up! I didn't even notice that there was more than one person in the basket at first. Interesting shot. |

balloonesqueby posthumousComment by Kelli: They look like they're really not sure if they want to go up or down. The man looks like he's doing a fair bit of "pondering". LOL! |

thoughts of a walnut treeby posthumousComment by JulietNN: Hi from the Critique Club,
You asked for your shot to have an in depth comment from a member of the Critique Club.
I don't know a lot but I can give you what I think. It is not macro enough, and I think in your comments you even know that. Now if there was something huge like a tiny section of the bark (walnut trees are smooth bark though) then that would have given the viewer an idea as to how small these things actually are.
My eye is searching for one focal point, and i am getting three of them, one south, one west and one north. There are also some sun bubbles that direct your eye straight to them.
You are sharp in your 3 areas though which is good, the background is a little busy but there is an attempt at bokeh in there (I think). Some contrast to give it some depth would have been helpful as it would have popped the web out
I gave you a six on this shot when i voted, as I did like it

Betrayed by the Clapperby posthumousComment by BJokerud: Had you taken a photo of the bird, and the bird only, with the available light, I think you would've finished among top 40 or something. Now it's more funny than dramatic, but something tells me you went for that approach :p |
