the porch where memory rocks into silenceby posthumousComment by dtremain: I love the concept and the title. But, for me, the execution just didn't quite get there. Not sure why, but there are a couple of things that work against you with this composition. In the central 3 panes, you've chopped off the top of the "arch", yet at the bottom of each, the entire arch is present, plus some additional unidentifiable "stuff" - generally it is better to balance - if you chop the top, chop the bottom too. Also, IMO, the left and right of the three panels distract - especially the left, which appears like it has lots to look at but, upon closer examination, does not. Plus, the right 4 sections of the picture are approximately the same width, but the area to the left is about 1/2 again as wide.
Again, I love the concept and the title. I also like that the porch could be in perfect condition, but the distortions in the center 3 panels makes it look to be in decay. 4 |
