Grendelby posthumousComment by streetpigeon: Either this pooch has great balance or we're looking out from the deck of a ship in turbulent waters. In any case it's an interesting crop, leaving Grendel kind of looking like a seal, to extend the whimsy. Remaking an image on a slant is instant dynamism. Grendel now seems sporty, alert and ready to explore a transformed world. Or dive for fish.
Thank you. |

Learning Fractionsby posthumousComment by roz: dont know exactly what it is about this that draws me in ..
of course i love black and white and high contrast when it works ..
but i also like images that arent immediately obvious .. and this takes the cake where that's concerned ..
those things do draw me in .. but this has an added 'something' .. and i'm not even going to try and put that into words .. :)
a few days later .. just having another look ..
this makes me think of graves, fish tanks and the macabre ..
just finished watching the netflix series dirty john .. that might have had an influence on how i've interpreted this .. !! .. ;)
i'm not voting yet .. :) |

The Bloom at the End of the Worldby posthumousComment by willem: Originally posted by tnun: Oh that Willem, no spring for he. Possible he doesn't know what the H stands for. |
I do, but still the image does not work for me. I looked at the image, not the title. I realised this was about the pandemic and this is currently happening in springtime, but still, for me it does not connect to the challenge theme.
As to the technical aspects, an image does not always have to be eye candy or technically perfect for me, but in my view a different technical approach should add to the message one wants to give with the image. I did not get that here.
I hope this add some further nuance to my explanation and score (2). At least I bothered to explain my score, which many others did not. |

The Bloom at the End of the Worldby posthumousComment by posthumous: Originally posted by Lydia: I'm going to guess that this doesn't score well. Are you shooting for the Brown?
If you actually want a critique on it, let me know, and I'll give one. |
I couldn't respond because you were bag headed. I do want a critique, but only if it includes the title and historical context. |
