I read and looked several times, ebb and flow â€Â¦..and each page told me a different and sometimes contradictory thing and I liked this fluctuation of ideas a lot.
I love the gestures of retreat - page 8, 9 and 10 and, just as I instinctively always do, I accompanied each verset and image with my own reflection.
Great last page.
I imagine this printed in a small format, to be held in one's hand as a precious pebble

I do have several strong objections in respect to the graphics of your essay.
- I wished that the images were similar in size; pages of a little book
- the color of the lettering to be different than the poetry of the photos - either really strong color or font or totally neutral (page 2 and 11 is one of the best I think as marriage between text and image)
- page 7&9 suffer from the way the verse appears

Last but not least, I am mesmerized by these photo essays (let's not forget that you started them here) and by the way you construct yours

Don, your poetry shines and the supporting photographs bring us closer. Maybe my favorite of your essays to date. Our fragile insignificant existence and what we do with it. An indifferent planet that would be better off without us. You̢۪ve led us along but we have room to make your story our own. Terrific work!

An interesting image that meets the challenge

I am not familiar with Cutout's work but a quick look at his front page suggests that your image fits the challenge. It is an intriguing image that holds the viewer and demands a longer look to work out the reflections, shadows and original detail that makes up the whole. Although it is massively overexposed it works in an appealing sort of way. The toning suits the subject well. I have had to look long and hard at the bird itself to work out its rather strange posture as clinging to the wire of the fence and looking over its back towards the space it is in.

It works well and has been favourably received here by your voters, well done, Sid
