Pollockmonetby posthumousComment by streetpigeon: I like all the flickering detail and the attention to the humble grass and undergrowth, just as important as towering oaks and spreading fields of poppies. I also appreciate the mating of wildly dissimilar artists. But I do find it a bit washed out, though I believe the over-exposure is a deliberate artistic statement. |

Lightby posthumousComment by primabarbara: I like your wonderful essay very much - the light and the old stone walls make a nice contrast. A contrast which is moving mankind. Like a metapher between freedom and bastille.
It also reminds me of ruins on a a greek island which I visited this summer - a sad and beautiful place at the same time. Thank you for bringing back the memory! |

a wall I once neededby posthumousComment by insteps: Two elements, well maybe three elements, of this photograph really work well IMO.
1. the perspective of the wall continues in its own shadow.
2. as others have mentioned, the detail in the beach tree leaves lower right. A nice place for the viewers eye to settle.
3. the burst of life and light coming through the impenetrable wall's doorway. Message edited by author 2017-10-31 00:19:20. |

a wall I once neededby posthumousComment by streetpigeon: This skittish image, aside from the calm spray of leaves in the lower right corner, took awhile to settle into coherence. The multitude of tiny leaves on the left transitioned through the somewhat larger rocks of the wall into those large, well-defined leaves on the right. I see the highlit tree in the wall's opening as your spirit passing out into the sunlight, as a new life beckons. Black and white is a fine choice, yet this photograph seems full of color. And what a strong title. I'm happy for your beautiful passage.
Personal favorite of the challenge. |
