nowhere but upby skewsmeComment by ohanapics: I think this would have made a fine entry for the Desolation challenge. A couple of things about the photo. The natural framing on the right seems to be the tree with the ladder against it so the darker area beyond it doesn't seem to fit with the picture especially since everything is so close to us but beyond the tree it is further away and in darker shadow. I would also like to see a little breathing room at the bottom of the photo, it seems to be cut quite close to the junk there.
On a side note I do like how even though you have the desolation theme we also see life springing up around it in the form of the young trees. |

flower powerby skewsmeComment by anmldoc: I've seen a couple of these in this challenge and I like the effect. I think this one is very well done. Almost rays of light coming out of the flower--excellent. |

The Smudge of Estrangementby skewsmeComment by LalliSig: Sorry but I am not in the least bit fond of the effect you put on this shot, whatever it is and wether it was put on in post processing or simply shot through some glass. Just figured you deserved an explanation why I gave it only a 3. |

Begonia Basketby skewsmeComment by alfresco: Too bad voters don't like abstracts, which is the drawback of many people here: they want a perfrect recreation of something. Unfortunately they miss the entire point of photography which is to elicit an emotional response. Oh well, I like this one :) |
