I like the way this was done but I can see why DPC beat you up. That doesn't mean it's not good. It just means they can't think. I like the almost morbid feel to it.

The pattern of light is fun, even though I would ordinarily prefer a solid background for a patterned cat. All the warm tones make it work together pretty nicely, and the eyes stand out beautifully. Looks like some parts of the image are somewhat oversharp and some over-smooth, but that could be me.
