Very OOB! Wish the landscape was a better image, because the idea is good.

Comment by krnodil:
Nice pastoral - I wonder if the image would benefit from a closer crop on the right (just to the right edge of the sloping stand of trees). I like how you've captured the rolling slopes of the land.

this would look great in black-and-white... I love how painterly it looks.

Man, what were people looking for? It's a solid composition, nice tones, and an interesting bug. That's a shell, isn't it?

At first glance, the colour makes the picture look kind of non-descript, monotonous and lacking in detail. Which is why it comes as a surprise when at second glance you discover that the picture is actually extremely detailed, and has interesting light and all sorts of things. At third glance it all suddenly clicks into place, and you realise what you're looking at.

Good picture! I'm impressed this was done in minimal editing. I actually prefer this one to the photo you did enter, but I expect it would have scored horribly, as the average voting time per picture probably wouldn't allow people to get past the first glance impression (and at first glance, I would've quickly given it a 4)

Like the concept and composition but it needs some oomph. maybe more dramatic lighting would help. Or fiddle with the contrast or saturation.

funny...but until i looked closely i thought it was a regular outdoor thermometer...i must have thought it was one of those icelandic kelvin thermometers ;)...perhaps showing some of the long stem of the thermometer would have helped us slower folks...though i hope i'm the only one ;)
