"Autumn's the mellow time." (William Allingham)by obsidianComment by violinist123: The background here does not work at all. I think had this been presented as a silhouette, with the tree being stark black against such an eye searing wall of red, it would have worked much better. As it is, the mass of red color just works against the subject, making its surface appear washed out and lacking in detail. Good luck. |

"Autumn's the mellow time." (William Allingham)by obsidianComment by redmoon: i think this would have been a bit more effective if it was a really solid silhouette; i think the red background would have set that off really well, and a posh wallpaper company might have used it as a print. as it is, it's still rather striking; the red is really lovely and bold. very likeable; 7. |

Gothic ROT Studyby obsidianComment by freakin_hilarious: Good idea and interesting subject. It's almost abstract. The only thing holding this back for me is the composition (well, and the size - I recommend always using the full 640 on a side). I think it would be more dynamic and meet the challenge more strongly in a landscape crop with the clover shape centered on the top left thirds line intersection. |

Hungry Bear About To Become Toast?by obsidianComment by klstover: This is such an adorable shot!! I love the concept and I really like the colors and composition. It's so neat how the blue is reflecting in the toaster, bringing your composition some extra impact. I think that it has a bit of an overprocessed look to it, as the background looks very flat and the bears head looks very sharpened. I might not be explaining things well but I want to at least try to put into words what I would have noticed if I had voted in this challenge. When I look at it now though all I can think of is OH HOW CUTE!! |
