The Difference One Day Makesby rebs138Comment by atupdate: The alinement of the bird and the egg really makes this image. You might want to consider a square crop that includes just the in focus portion of the nest. The out of focus portion and the greenery are non-benefical negative space imho. 8 |

Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore"by rebs138Comment by rebs138: Just wanted to add... The photo wasn't supposed to represent a specific superstition, but encompass many superstitions that surround crows/ravens/blackbirds. Most of those superstitions include the bird being a messanger, bringer of bad tidings, etc. So I liked the title for that reason (not to mention Poe is awesome)... Didnt have much choice about the background, Grackie goes where he pleases and this was the best out of about 50 photos. The color version was not good at all, there was a lot of greenish dying grass that just caught your eye before anything else.
Also, the tail is cropped out because its reallllllly long and the composition did not look right when it was included. |

Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore"by rebs138Comment by freakin_hilarious: I like this. B/W was a good choice. I would like to see the raven a little blacker, though. Not sure how to accomplish that, however. Maybe more contrast? Bump the blacks in selective color? I don't know. He's staring right at me!

Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore"by rebs138Comment by rick13601: "Quoth the Raven, Nevermore" This is a line from one of my favorite holloween poems. Yet, without the title I would have never thought this photo had anything to do with Superstitions & Urban Legends. Why are the tail feathers cropped out? Nice use of B&W. Good luck. |
