This is the only entry that gave me an inclination to "start" something. Way to think outside the box.

This shot looks pretty good technically but the composition doesn̢۪t do a lot for me. It meets the challenge topic but the photo doesn̢۪t stand out for me. 5

ok, I'm looking at these with my 9 year old son. I was going to give it a 4, because I didn't like lack of contrast. I wanted my eggs white! Then my son reminded me, that you're supposed avoid white, so I looked more at the composition, which I liked. (still don't like grey eggs, though) 6

Comment by rlewis:
I am not sure if it is the focus or the hot material may not express itself as being in sharp focus, but the focus seems soft, like the reflection

It didn't come up for me in voting, and I really don't know how I would have gone if it had come up. I think I would have considered it for a few minutes and then gone back and re-read the challenge description. Of course, hindsight is 20/20 and I really don't know for sure how I would have gone. My wife is into genealogy, so I prefer to think I woudl have recognized it as fitting. A good entry and very out of the box.

How is it both a good out of the box concept AND "too much" out of the box.

As you said, "chellenge description clearly said shoot a single tree." -- This does that completely.
