Aww cute! I am sure this will be a family favorite for lots of years. Based upon some noise issues I am going to guess this is cropped in quite a bit from a larger shot really show off the eyes. That paired with the fact that the eyes aren't looking at the camera probably won't grab a high score, but points aren't as important as family memories, and I think you captured a great one.

White balance is a little too blue here. You can use Shade or Cloudy WB, even in full sun, to warm up the colours a little.

He is a beautiful bug and he fills the frame nicely. He is unfortunately out of focus and there is quite a lot of noise in the image. Using a tripod and a lower iso would probably help.
