Rosesforever-011.jpgby yetiComment by SandyP: Awwwwww. . .thank you for sharing. I love those personal little jewels we can see in these photos we're sharing with each other. I'm sorry about the loss of your dad in April. There's such a sparkle in that grande old man's eyes. Probably the love for the granddaughter he's holding and his daughter. . .and the photographer!
You have a beautiful family!

The Music Boxby yetiComment by SandyP: Don't you LOVE those old German pieces. We used to live in Germany and we used to have some of the most amazing clocks and some smaller music boxes. This is AMAZING! No wonder you are so proud of it!
Such rich wood. It reaks of history and nostalgia!

In Beeps Box.by yetiComment by MelonMusketeer: You have a beautiful piece of victorian art and machinery, and a family treasure to boot. I know this sounds a bit like "Mom," but you should at least give it a good dusting and a little TLC with Murphy's oil soap.
If I was nearby I would offer to visit and see if the machine works are easily repairable. I know that they used to lube clock works with kerosene vapor back in the day when this was built. Teflon dry lube with a toothpick or Qtip would be first choice for lube today. It goes on wet, but dries almost instantly. It works good for aluminum tripods and the like as well. As long as the mainspring is ok, it should not be too much of an adventure to get it working.
Wish you good hunting in your quest for someone with the skills and time to restore it to it's original glory before you pass it down to your next generation. |
