Hey! Don't step into the water.by kenboComment by qachyk: Heh, I almost went out to take a photo of a fountain, so I definitely agree falling water is evocative of sound. Something about the photo looks odd -- I suspect in part the lack of colour. Inasmuch as seeing the foam swirl is nice, the clear falling water seems blurry, which is probably related. |

Hey! Don't step into the water.by kenboComment by StevePax: Perhaps with this waterfall, instead of using a prolonged exposure, you could have captured the exact splash effect with a very quick shutter speed. This makes it just look out of focus to me. |

Hey! Don't step into the water.by kenboComment by eloise: 10 for concept, 9 for execution: 9 overall. :-> I hear the photo (which is my major grading criteria for this contest), and it's an appealing image overall. I liked this one a lot better than the other water shots, because it feels 'noisier', somehow. |

whites in the May duskby kenboComment by wewillexplore: I'm split on this shot. I wish there was a bit more on the left - the crop/composition is too tight. I like the DoF but not the exposure - the whites seem almost too bright in the closest flower. A very hard to judge shot, but one that appeals to me. 8 |

cozy & colorfulby kenboComment by eloise: 5. Fits the theme well enough, and there are no blatant \'you suck!\' flaws to it, but neither does it really grab me for any reason at all. For reasons of composition, cropping, or subject choice, it\'s just a photo, and doesn\'t do especially much for me, aesthetically.
The evergreen tree with orange and red flowers at its base seems to be the center of the shot, attentionwise, but the fact that other, relatively similar plants are scattered almost evenly around the rest of the frame is kind of distracting, and doesn\'t add to any one central impression for the shot.
The lighting and color saturation is really good, though. |

whites in the May duskby kenboComment by ruthiek: There's a bit too much contrast here for me -- I have to squint when I look at the main blossom and its brightness seems to weigh the picture down on that side -- it looks like the photo is about to fall forward. |
