DOF is too narrow really. A slower shutter speed and longer exposure would help this, which is sometimes difficult where insects are concerned!

I llike this shot. It reminds me of many that are in our newspaper featuring athletes of the year . They would certainly wane nostalgic looking back on a phot like this. My only comment is the rectangle cropping. Is there something happening to the left and right that prohibited a square cropping? Ok two comments: the sun needed to be shaded somewhat. The squints detract. Best of luck. BTW: What college?

Nice alien-like look to it with the lighting. It might be better cropped off a little on the left side. The light reflection in the eye adds a little bit of an evil look to it.
