Silence is goldenby arati_halbeComment by Contra: Good idea, but those ark spots on the flower kill it. I'd try to refocus (w/ ex-tubes probably) so that they were less visible. |

now what was that again?by arati_halbeComment by jeger: Greetings from the critique club...
My first impression is that this is not far from being an excellent photograph. Your crop is very good. You've cropped the boys head, but done it in such a way that it is deliberate. You've also left some negative space to the right to give the subject an area to look into. From a technical stand point, the image seems a little soft overall. It's diffucult to tell on this monitor, but the photo might be a little yellow overall.
As for fitting the theme, you've done a great job. It is very obvious there is more than one light source. The catch light in the boys eye is also very nice.
Keep up the good work.

watching the gliricidia bloomby arati_halbeComment by TCGuru: Your bokeh is nice but your foreground choice really does very little for this image. Perhaps one of those lovely flowers in the background would have made for a better subject because I can't see how the tree relates to the flowers and it's texture is distracting from the shapes they are making. However, your focus is good and your light is very nice. I do appreciate that you didn't blow out the sky. It has a beautiful blue colour which works very well with the pink in the blooms. Just remember it all comes down to composition and to find things that compliment each other in the frame. Good luck! :) |
