Clean simple and lovely. The tilt makes this shot more appealing - good choice. Back to bump you up to 9.

the 1 is uncalled for i agree with that, but 4's and 5's and to stretch it a 3 wouldn't be unexpected though, and yes that would be for someone who had voted on every photo and still found this one less interesting than others. as far as a type of photo being identified as a ribboner during voting, yeah, i think a lot of times it IS obvious if the photo is good. but when its a photo that people have already seen ribbon in the past, it can change your opinion of it even if its flawless. MJ dunked from the free throw line and shocked the world. a lot of people can do that now but it doesn't feel as shocking-

i dont think its identifying a potential winner and voting down on purpose, sometimes its just honest disinterest in the subject. this is technically a very well done photo, but i don't check dpchallenge too often anymore and it seems like this shot is on the front page every few months now-

Seriously, who would be so dumb to give out 1s just because a photo is not interesting for them? Those votes would be scrubbed at rollover, or do you really believe most of the other shots in the challenge would be far more interesting for such a person?
Besides that, you could try and check last 200 challenges ribboners for a similar shot and look if you find more than one. Even if you were right, it would only strengthen the theory that a specific kind of probable ribboners is easily identifiable.

Interesting colors and composition. The BG complements the food very well.

This colorful image is a big relief to eyes from a series of monochromatic images in this challenge.

Wow.

Ive seen alot of this kind of pictures. The ones that are in water. They are a little over-done, But this is a very good shot anyway.

Well done.

Nice perspective and DOF. I like the earthy tones also. Lots of things to look for and pick out of this one. It looks like an early morning shot (am I right?). Not sure what I think of the border, but I say that about most borders. Nice job!

Nice lighting and warm colors for such a cold scene. Nice elevated position to capture the fog well. Nice scene, although it being a stadium or arena of some description perhaps makes the scene a bit more 'ordinary'. The best aspect of this image in my opinion is the fog, so I do wonder about a variation in subject to allow that to dominate the image, almost totally - but that is a different image. Obviously your choice to photograph the fog covering this building/scene. Framing works well, and does make it look like a still from a movie. It is a shame to receive no comments during a Challenge, especially with a fine photograph. I didn't get to this during voting, but hypothetically, perhaps a 6 or 7. edit:typo
