I like your idea, but have 2 suggestions.

1. That front candle is a little too potent; maybe a smaller flame would help.
2. I think it might be better if the floor wasn't tile. It feels like it's in a bathroom (is it?). Maybe this like in the middle of a road would have helped it feel like the afterlife.
