Nescafe- a morning experience that's out of this worldby smykComment by Pedro: hm...tough to light indeed without proper studio gear. The first thing i notice is that it's strongly lit from the right side. this casts strong shadows from you, the cup, the bowl, and the paper. a second source of light (same strength as the first one, or slightly less) placed behind the camera and slightly to the left would fill this in nicely. Some shadow is good - it adds depth and contour to the photo - but shots like this need more even lighting i think. Lower light also tends to over saturate reds, so adding some light would be a good thing (and maybe a shift in your white balance...your hands and face look a little on the red side).

Now on other aspects it feels like something can be done with the light.
This doesnt feel very morning like in the sense that morning light is generally very pale, or, if youre in canada as i know you are now, mornings these days are really dark. Then again morning does last till noon, however for some reason i feel like this isnt in the morning jsut because of how grey it is, lack of contrast between what is illuminated and what isnt, it looks like its shot in the afternoon.
Good luck with it though! |
