Not much to choose from in the city.by VanBergenComment by KiwiShotz: Not having seen the colour version its hard to say that B&W might not have been the best choice for this. But the detail of the bird is lost in the contrast of the grass. It's a damned fine urban composition too. |

Train-7.jpgby VanBergenComment by rox_rox: Well, I'm on my second glass of wine, so you might take this with a grain of salt. IMO, it's not a bad photo, by any means.
As far as train images goes, I'd say it's average. It seems a little flat, and the composition doesn't really move me. The bridge and wind sock are a bit distracting; and I'm partial to compositions with an odd number of subjects. There are just so many shots similar to this, that a person would have to do something extraordinary to raise the bar. Not to say that there isn't a lot of opportunity to find a unique angle or candid at this location. Message edited by author 2006-01-27 22:29:24. |

Train-7.jpgby VanBergenComment by Bear_Music: There's a sense here that this is a cropped section out of a larger, more dynamic image. It is just too "tight" to work very well, there are no real compositional dynamics at work here. A little more on the left (maybe quite a bit more) and some more on the top and it would be significantly stronger. The colors and the sense of sompression are both powerful. |
