Last Beerby KHoltComment by h2: bit overexposed; a dark background would have added some mystique here; had also opened the bottle; still one of the best concepts in this challenge |

It's a rough gameby KHoltComment by hopper: Greetings from the Critique Club ...
I'm gonna be honest with you, there's nothing to critique. This is superb shot. You froze the action. The expressions are perfect. The background is thrown out of focus. The intensity is clearly shown. It meets the challenge.
The glare off the goal post is a slight distraction, but it's not like you can direct them to "scuffle" about 5 feet to the left :)
In my opinion, you got an excellent score, but it should have been higher. Fickly voters, I guess.
Awesome Job. |

1983 - Relax (don't do it)by KHoltComment by fotomann_forever: ::: Greetings from Critique Club :::
Hi, as requested, here is an indepth critique of your submission.
First Impression - the most important one:
It is a good image and stands apart from all the other Rubik's Cube photos in that it is torn apart ... something I quickly learned to do ;-)
Composition:
Pretty strong. I like the fact that the in focus parts are in the positions they are in. However, I think that using two blocks in the foreground has crowded the composition a bit.
Subject:
Clean, clear crisp and stands out welll.
Technical (Colour, focus, and light):
Colour- White balance seems to be a bit warm. But, overall colour is good.
Focus - Sharp and good use of DoF.
Light - No harsh shadows, evenly lit. Pretty good, but somewhat flat.
To grow its vote?:
The Rubik's seems to have been an obvious choice for this challenge. In that, you may have gotten quite a few votes that were low, because voters had seen too many Rubik's Cubes. Also, strenthen up that composition just a little.
Summary:
Pretty good photo, definitely not a bad photo.
Hope to see more from you soon,
Leroy |

20km charity race with plenty of fortitude!by KHoltComment by sfalice: Greetings from the Critique Club
Before I start, I just want to compliment you on your Country Life entry, HOme Time. Spectacular seeing and great capture. That dog frisking along in the rear put 'the frosting on the cake' for the story portrayed in that image.
Okay, back to the matter at hand. You did something very difficult here, you isolated the runners beautifully from the landscape. Each of them stands out against the desolation of the terrain. The path, where it shows, looks forbidding, and the viewer wonders how these people know where to go next. Thus becoming part of the story.
YOu didn't score very well on this image, and I sat here for a long time trying to figure out why. I can give you a couple of my best guesses, and you take it from there. First: Perhaps the image, overall, is a bit dark or murky on the screen? Second: I wonder how powerful this image would have been with a different crop. I tried it about halfway between the frame edge and the telephone poles and, again, below the poles. A horizontal orientation seemed to work pretty well.
Whatever your score, you have again told a good story and this image is certainly a keeper. |
