The DoF is great, everything in focus. I think that your being to hard on yourself. Try taking this image and increase the contrast a bit then lower the brightness and see what you think.

I am happy to see the triptych to show the whole inscription. The last one, Tutamen, is just slightly off in regard to the N. I really like these photos. Keep the macro view going strong. The lighting is a bit different in each one and I always wonder how to get a series of images to have good detail as well as the lighting be the same. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
