A photo with two subjects that have strong contrast to the background is usually hard for the eyes.

Intersting subjects, but the lighting is a bit too harsh to pull this one off. Both are nicely focused and I like the way it seems that they are looking at each other. Perhaps a bit of fill flash would have improved the lighting, but chances are that shooting them at a different time of day would have been the best solution.
