The receding tide reveals lovely textures and tones. For me, the photo would be improved by a simple straightening of the horizon, which seems to be out by about 2 or 3 degrees.

rule of thirds apply well to horizons. also, you lose a lot of the drama of the waves by shooting it straight on.

Nicely captured candid ... that look, with the tear, really expresses a sense of emotion/sadness. Too bad the eyes aren't sharper/more in focus.
