The water is an interesting addition, but I think I like the smooth shell better. And there seems to be more texture in the fur on the first one. This is very nice, but my vote is for Mr. Elephant Beetle.

P.S. The seed pods are much nicer in this shot -- rich color and clear focus, but since the beetle is the primary subject, I'll still go with #1.

Very sharp with great detail right on the head and shoulders? What I mean are the hairs. the blur of his legs I'm assuming are because he is running to get away from you, I like the effect it creates. It makes it real and not static in any way.
