No Fearby PhocalComment by sidpixel: Hello from the critique club
An appealing image that contributes well to the challenge
Another of your excellent ‘gator studies Ronnie. I love the reflections in his eye and the duplicated and reversed reflection of him in the water. Whilst it is perfectly acceptable to use symmetry for this type of image I prefer it using the upper third with the emphasis then placed on the calm waters refection. Other than that another lovely image. |

Up to your usual high standard Ronnie another nicely captured alligator in its green mossy environment. Your title sums it up too, careful is the order of the day, its malevolent presence is a warning in itself, careful! |

I like the creative use you have made of your wide angle lens here. Your human is isolated and key to the image as a whole and therefore, in my mind, fulfils the challenge brief well, a portrait doesn’t always have to the obvious facial jobby. I like the way the lens has emphasised the tailfin, I also like your bold use of contre-jour, the backlit flag, the shadows, the rays, it all works well for me. I’m sorry your entry didn’t do much better for you Ronnie, thats the blind nature of the DPC beast sometimes. |

Downward-Facing Dogby PhocalComment by sidpixel: Hello from the critique club
An interesting image that contributes well to the open challenge
A good action capture of formation flight. I like that you have used a shutter speed fast enough to catch the planes with good sharp detail (I have to disagree with one of your commenters) and yet still slow enough to show the motion blur of the props as opposed to the all too often used too high shutter speed that freezes the prop making it look like a cut-out in the sky. Composition-wise I would prefer it if the planes weren’t quite so central, I like the smoke trail appearing from the top left but the planes would be more dynamic if they were further to the lower right of the frame. |
