Blue PCby
dpattersonComment by mpeters: Hi from the Critique Club... Here is the critique you requested. Hopefully I can offer you some helpful thoughts. If you have any questions please PM me.
First IMpression: I didn't vote all of the images in this challenge and this is one I missed. First look w/o the details makes me wonder to whom tribute is being given. The blue color is very nicely captured and I wonder if it was just a PS color shift. More on that later...
Composition: I feel like a little closer crop to bring the circuit board and hard drive into a more prominant role would have strengthened your image. The wire cutting accross the lower left is a little distracting to my eyes. A technology shot seems as if it must be very, very, neat.
Lighting: Lots of credit to you for your lighting technique. As I mentioned, i might first think you just performed a global color shift, but, I would be wrong. YOu didn't take the easy way out with the color and that alone makes this image intriguing. You managed to keep good detail in the highlites and the shadows seem about right as well.
Challenge results: I really feel that most voters probably looked at your picture, figured you performed a Photo Shop color shift and moved on. A title would have helped steer the votor towards the tribute photog but Im not sure most voters would have taken the time to research. Several commentators mentioned the "blue" challenge and this would have been a good picture for that challenge. Dont sweat the score, we just need some guidance :)
HOpe this helps and keep shooting.
