One Half of the Storyby sarrobiComment by sfalice: Greetings from the Critique Club
Anyone who does a Tribute to Imogen Cunningham is my kind of photographer. That was a lovely tribute.
Okay, now to the matter at hand. I think your technical excellence paid off for you in this shot. It is perfectly exposed and nicely interpreted. And you scored well.
Nevertheless, I'm going to suggest that your composition, taking up almost exactly half of the frame seemed to be done 'on purpose' to fullfill the Challenge requirements. (Not that you did it that way, just that it looks that way.) And then the vertical piece that holds the balance in place. (boy, am I being picky here) I wonder if just a touch more of it at the top showing would help balance the composition just a little better.
Okay, that's all I'm going to critique on what really is a very nice image and one that I enjoyed looking at. Feel free to PM me if I am completely 'all wet' and you want to set me straight.
;>)
Best regards, Alice |

You did a great job on this photo it has a simple yet elegant feel to it. The noise adds allot to the photo giving it even more character. One thing I think would have helped allot would be a little different lighting to add depth to the photo it looks flat without it. You really did a great Job on the D-Sat I love the white, grays, and black in it. It does appear to be over sharpened. But overall a great photo.
One more quick note I don't know how you do your borders but this one isn't even all the way around. The white border on the left looks a little thinner then the rest.
Here is a good tutorial on the subject that makes it real easy to get a perfect border.
Let me know if you have any questions on my critique feel free to PM me. |

Dreams of Flightby sarrobiComment by mpeters: Hi from the Critique Club
First Impression: nice silhouette against a pretty sky.
Composition: You did a nice job on this picture with the placement of the bird. the close cropping really steers the viewers focus to the bird. That said, personally I think a little more space on the right, and possibly the top would strengthen the image.
Technical and PP: Exposure and colors look good. One commentator mentioned a little fringing around the silhouette which is noticable. I find this aspect hardly distracting to my eye because it is so slight. the small greenish cloud right behind the birds head is a little bit of a distraction. Advanced editing may have let you clone it out.?? The vignetting works well with this picture. Did you do some selective blurring on the BG?
Challenge results: 5.5xx is respectable. Maybe it didnt have that "hit the voter in the head" fantasy angle. Keep up the good work. You have some nice pics in your portfolio. I especially like your tribute entry.
Feel free to PM me if any questions.

Vibranceby sarrobiComment by Andre_P69: Love the colour, seems slightly tipped over, the liquid in the central glass is not level, distracts for me |

Perfumeby sarrobiComment by ignite: Would this not be better if she was holding the perfume instead of her shoe? Or interacting with the perfume bottle in some way. Right now it is just in the way and I want it outta there so that I can see the entire pose. |
