Very original concept and I like the composition. The lighting and visual appeal is lacking, however, and is what lets the image down. This type of image is more appealing when it's brighter, more colorful, and 'cleaner'. The water droplets on the counter, the dullness to the chrome, and the 'corosion' to the spout makes it more 'real' but less appealing.

Not sure where you are going with this one but it IS different!! I think if you could have used something blue for the cold side and red for the hot I would have understood it better. 6 for creativity.

Would have had more appeal if you showed both apples.

As a guy who is somewhat in tune with the Chinese culture, I can say that this is a really powerful and excellent photo that really deserves to be a good hundred places up at least in this challenge.

I actually had guessed that they were in China, but I'm guessing now that the conditions in Iceland are rather nice compared to what they would face in their homeland.

Chinese miners work ridiculously dangerously every day (in China it is not uncommon for people to not get days off for months) in conditions completely uncontrolled by any safety regulating organization (the vast majority of mining accidents in China go unreported in China itself, much less in the international scene) in a hopeless situation because they make a pittance in a society that places tremendous value on wealth and a nearly nonexistant value on life. Add to that the ignonimity of working in such dirty conditions and then you see their smile...

Touching.

Potent.

Another great black and white portrait. Very effective use of B&W. A solid photo that would be great in any exhibition of urban life.
