Critique Club Review

Note: Do not take any comments in this review personally. They are only for the purpose of assisting with photography.

Composition: I see what you are getting at here. You are trying to show the broken tree. But the problem is that there are too many other busy elements in the scene (ie other trees, other branches, around beside and in front) that they dilute away from the impact of what you're trying to show. In general, you should try to ISOLATE the elements of interest. If they cannot be isolated, then it probably will not be that successful of a shot.

Technical: The black and white works well. The focus seems a little soft. Probably was handheld. There's not really any clear point of focus. Ie it's hard to tell what I should be looking at.

Overall: Strengthen your shot by moving in and clearly isolating elements of interest. This will strengthen all of your photography if you do this. Good luck!

Nice photo. Are those two bullet holes through the sign?

too bad everything is nicely exposed except the sign. using your flash might have improved that.

Interesting photo, with an overall merging of trees and twigs into a lovely, textured whole. However, the darkest tones aren't dark enough (on my monitor, which is properly calibrated).

To me, this is a shot of A tree, not a landscape. That said, with all of the branches, the eye tends to dart around, trying to find an object to focus on.

This is a pretty shot, but hard to look at. It all kind of blends in together. Not sure how that could be fixed at all, other than doing it in color, but the color in the shot probably wasn't very impressive this time of the year anyway. Focus and clarity seem very nice. was a wide angle lens used for this? I wonder because of the strange angle of the trees to the left. I think you made a good decision to go black and white, just wish there was more seperation. Good luck in the challenge.
