I'm a fan of negative space and not afraid of having completely black sections in photos, but I think you have a bit too much here. I think cropping some of the right, and letting the chain intrude into the negative space could enhance the image. Also, the focus seems a bit off or soft.

It is not the book that is the road to salvation, it is following what it prescribes with pure heart that IS the road to salvation. I'll take it that way... OK. Negative space is powerful, enhances the main subject. However, not a ribbon-quality photo. Congratulations on the bravery to submit something out-of-the-box and good luck.
