Honesty vs. Ethnocentricityby thevesselsinyourbruisesComment by Nald: This is a very disturbing image to me. I'll be honest, I had no idea what the word "Ethnocentricity" meant so I looked it up. After further review, I really don't understand the definition behind "Ethnocentricity" and the statement on the woman's chest. The only thing that I can come up with viewing this shot and the definition of the word is (and I'm guessing here) a woman socially bound against a relationship that isn't socially acceptable?.?.
Either way about the shot itself, the lighting here suggests a raw and moody element that to me speaks something in the way of a ransom photo. Either way it evokes pure emotion from the viewer be it good or bad it is a powerful statement.
As I stated before this image disturbs me, with that said, I'm not voting down this picture because of the power it creates when one is viewing it. I'm giving you a 7 for a striking, emotive, and demanding shot that captures the viewers attention. |

Honesty vs. Ethnocentricityby thevesselsinyourbruisesComment by susi: why are there so many pictures of women gagged? I am sure there are many whom will find merit in this picture, and think of it as art, but as a woman with a young daughter and very sensitive to degradation...gag. |
