Very nice! At first I thought that being "upside down" added to the power of the image. After all, a shot from directly above doesn't really have a natural orientation and the way you put them helps say that they are drained and empty.

But the shot is actually not from directly above; you can see the bottom of one of the bottles. I rotated the image 180 degrees and found that it looks more natural.

In any case, I like it either way.

A Critique Club Comment

Hello Sandra!

Please keep in mind these are just my opinions

Composition
I like the composition. Keeping the tree on the right side, for me, was a good idea, it frames the shot nicely. The reflection dead center works like a charm as well - this is an excellent excellent reflection! The shapes of the trees and the branches and smaller branches is intriguing. I like the pseudo-vanishing point created by the trees, near dead-center (unless that really is a vanishing point, then I like it that much more!)

Technical / Post Processing
I find the hues too subdued, I think this is a time upping saturation a tad would work. I feel a little dodge/burn of the clouds to make them pop a little more, and maybe a slight bump in contrast, would make this photo really pop.

Aesthetics
Quite aesthetically pleasing, this is a lovely, peaceful photo.

Relevance to Challenge
For me this is what I would love to have this view out my window - this is what country life is about. Relevance: 10.

Overall
Had I voted on this, I probably would have given it a six. Had the colors and contrast made the photo pop even a little more I would have easily gone 7 or 8 at least. Overall overall: I really like this photo!

Each of the photos you've entered in challenges have been very good, I see a ribbon in your future!! Keep up the good work.

I think its slightly underexposed, also try rotating the photo so the bottles point up. Other than that I like it, a nice blue tone, very moody.

Great luninesence. Bottles are well placed, create neat line and a simple composition that is very pleasing. The lighting won the day! Nicely done. 10

Comment by ubique:
Very clever composition as well as sympathetic toning and processing. The idea expressed by the soil and the title lifts this above the run-of-the mill bottle studies. 8.
