This is very striking, but I wish there were more facial features in focus...the eyes are the most important feature and should always have the sharpest focus. I would try this again and ensure the eyes are in focus and then try and use a small aperature to get the pores into focus. Perhaps you should use a longer lens to give you a larger DOF? Great concept and great attempt.

Not sure where my eyes should be going here - the tree or the structure.
A soft focus on the background or dropping the colors & contrast would help to make the background supplemental, and overall the image needs a counter-clockwise rotation to corrct the tilt.

mmm, i like the atmosphere of this photo, although to me it seems a little bit bland, and the tree yields an awkward composition to my eye.
