Unfortunately, I don't know what a 'bootblack' is. Maybe it's a cultural difference between us. As far as interpreting the challenge, I think your image probably suffered because of it. Maybe the 'waldo' concept is primarily an American children's theme.

Other than being a difficult interpretation of the challenge, the image lacks a bit of sharpness.

Your exposure is too dark to make out the boats at the bottom of the shot. The sunset and sky themselves lack color or interesting patterns to add to the shot. This seems like a good location for a sunset shot, so I'd try it again. Experiment with different angles and zoom levels and I'll bet you could get a very cool shot. Good luck.

Interesting perspective, i like your shot. It was the right decision, that you turned your camera a few degrees. But IMHO a little more contrast and saturation of colors could have been helpful here. Where is it?
