Meeting the Challenge: Great job of this

Composition: I prefer a non-centered focal point, but this symmetrical (sp?) design seems to work fine for this shot. I might have cropped just a little bit closer to avoid that white spot at the top that distracts me a bit.

Technical Quality: You caught the grain, dings, and warmth of this wood extremely well! I like the way the age shows in this wood. For some reason, the right side seems a bit less focused than the left, even with your 8 aperture. Likely due to the macro nature of the shot?? No post-processing problems noted. This is a good looking shot for as long as it was exposed.

Creativity: If this wood hadn't been so weathered, you would have had a very dull shot. Nice use of an otherwise likely boring subject. Even if this was the only thing you could find to shoot, it's a very interesting shot to me.

Conclusion: Interesting shot with good technical quality, and tons of warmth and character.

Critique Club Review

Definetly a different perspective on things.

The lines of the building tend to guide the eye right past the door and windows, off into an impossibly blue sky. Looks almost like a frame out of a dream sequence. Very disorienting and unusual. Which is not necessarily a bad thing. The focus and depth of field here is excellent. Color renditon is also very realistic. (Well except for the sky anyway.)

Overall I like this picture. However, my eye keeps wishing for something in the sky. (Sun, clouds, birds, God, etc.)

There is a lot of texture to this picture, which I find very enjoyable. The wet looking stone, and arch over the door are fantastic.

A powerful landscape image. Real heavy on the blue tones in the sky. But I think that adds to the vibrant strength of the heavens portrayed. The hint of detail in the foreground definitely adds to the photo compared to a black silhouette that would be too stark and boring in my opinion. The blades are a tad close to the center for the rule of thirds purists who would demand more sky and less earth. But this is real life on the wing. And I think you have a done a marvelous job both technically and aesthetically.

Looks Australian! This photo makes me really sad. I think it's a little busy though, and the colours seem a bit odd. That sky almost seems too blue.
