Moth in the Windowby stare_at_the_sunComment by sher: unbelievable! i will never understand how amazing shots like this finish so low...maybe because it doesn't look like it belongs on a greeting card at the local Hallmark store. where it DOES belong is printed on a huge canvas and hanging in an art gallery! i think it's just exquisite. |

Moth in the Windowby stare_at_the_sunComment by DrAchoo: Well, hmmm, I know you are capable of good stuff. This was your Best of 2005? At first glace, I think this. What is this picture about? Is it about the detail of the butterfly (looks like a butterfly to me, not a moth)? No, we can't see much detail. Is it about the color of the wings with the light through them? No. Is it about the shape? Possibly, but then why the lower framing with the black? The title doesn't direct us, so we are still stuck wondering "what's the point?"
Technically the dust bokeh on the window is distracting, but I bet you didn't really have time to clean it first (assuming the butterfly is alive).
OK, I just peeked down at some comments (just like I say I don't do). It seems like people who liked it like the emotive quality and that's the way you label it. I think that's gonna resonate with some and not with others. |

Moth in the Windowby stare_at_the_sunComment by ubique: Hope 557th place won't discourage you Caleb.
Remember this:
... when I told you not to change what you do?
Well, you have changed a bit, here and there, but not with this fabulous and absurdly underrated image. Instead of "This is a moth", which any plonker with a reasonable lens can do, you have done "What is a moth?"
It's brilliant. |
