In Through The Out Doorby ChrisW123Comment by imagesloyola: excellent image, just so sorry i failed to vote for this image, im still encountering problems with my internet connection...honestly, your pix is quite tricky and very creative, i meant not so usual photos that i usually saw here...just continue with this kind of style, its so beautiful and you really amazed me.
one problem with our submission is - during the voting period, the voters cant see your comments about your submission. just the image and the title...YOU MUST BE PROUD OF YOUR SUBMISSION. Good luck. |

In Through The Out Doorby ChrisW123Comment by Nusbaum: I read the comments and then reviewed the image again. My inial thoughts remain the same.
I saw the subject as the strong structure of the window frame (right angles) played against the delicate and random structure of the tree. The blurred white window frame is a strong element (right angle) because of it's size and an important element because it foreshadows the right angles in the window pain. The fountain servers a similar purpose by foreshadowing the delicate and random structure of the tree. I still think it's a great photograph with a lot of depth.
I don't think a photograph needs to WOW you in less than a second to be good. Sometimes it takes minute to enjoy the depth.
I don't know if the photographer saw what I did, but that is probably ok too. |

In Through The Out Doorby ChrisW123Comment by e301: Damn, Chris I meant to leave a comment on this shot and didn't - just spottd it whilst browsing through the full results. I was one of your 8's - and I only rated three photos higher.
I love the colour and depth here - those repeating layers fading a little as they recede, excellently done. I also think that perhaps more than any other shot this REALLY met the challenge - as in 'the strength of the composition' etc. : both the odd foreground blur, and the echo of it in the window-frame really pull they eye in. A difficult trick to pull off, and it's no surprise that most of us went for depictions of right angles rather than employing them as a compositional device.
There's a powerful feeling of mystery in this shot too, of a kind of yearning - it reminds me of books like Le Grande Meaulnes, or HG Wells's green door ... something glimpsed fleetingly and perhaps never to be found again: so a sense of loss also.
Most good work. Overlooked by the audience here, evidently, but yours is not the only lost photo :-)
